Stepping Strong Center Explorer Grant

The 2021 Stepping Strong Center Explorer grant provides funding for fellows (MD, PhD, or equivalent) who are investigating the continuum of trauma careā€”from prevention to treatment to rehabilitation. Clinicians or researchers currently participating in postdoctoral or fellowship training programs in the Greater Boston area that align with the mission and vision of the Stepping Strong Center are invited to apply for grants up to $2,000. Eligible training programs include surgical fellowships in trauma, orthopedic, and plastic surgery and research training programs with a focus on trauma-related outcomes.

Funded activities include:

  • Attending recognized medical, scientific, or technical conferences.
  • Participating in immersive training opportunities with the goal of developing knowledge and understanding of traumatic injury, promoting interest in the field of trauma research and care, and/or building a network of like-minded researchers and clinicians.

To apply, please submit two documents: (1) a brief description of the conference or training (including a link to the conference website), explaining how the opportunity will enhance your medical training or research; and (2) a budget outlining your anticipated expenses.

Awardees are asked to submit a brief follow-up report of their Stepping Strong Explorer Grant experience. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Please allow approximately four weeks for a decision.
