Public Emergency Response Trainings

Before first responders arrive, there are actions bystanders can take to save lives and improve outcomes with basic knowledge and training. Through our programs, The Gillian Reny Stepping Strong Center for Trauma Innovation empowers individuals by teaching lifesaving skills to intervene in an emergency.

Why Do We Offer These Trainings?

In an emergency, every minute counts. Our trainings are designed to empower individuals to respond in the minutes before professional help arrives.

Blood loss, suicide, and opioid overdose are leading causes of preventable injury-related death

As little as 3–5 minutes for someone to die from uncontrolled blood loss or brain damage from overdose to set in

7–8 minutes is the median ambulance response time in Boston

Everyone can learn how to respond to an emergency and help save lives.

Training Spotlight

Empowering Boston’s Hospitality Industry

The Stepping Strong Center received a grant to train staff from Boston’s hospitality venues in Stop the Bleed and Naloxone administration. This industry was selected since hospitality workers face a higher risk of traumatic injury, and these establishments are high-traffic environments where emergencies can occur. Through this training, employees gain the skills and knowledge to improve safety and enhance the overall experience for patrons and the places they enjoy.
