The Gillian Reny Stepping Strong Center for Trauma Innovation is hosting the third annual Week of Hope and Healing to raise awareness of the global trauma epidemic and how the center is improving outcomes across the continuum of trauma care from prevention to treatment and recovery.
Beginning April 9 and leading up to the 129th Boston Marathon on April 21, the week’s activities will explore the impact of trauma from multidisciplinary perspectives, inspiring participants to take action and make a difference in their communities.
Our community of trauma survivors and advocates is vast, and we invite you to join as many of these events as you can. All are welcome and encouraged to attend. Please see below for more details on each event.
Join us for the Stepping Strong Injury Prevention Grand Rounds, featuring Bellal Joseph, MD, from The University of Arizona. This session will focus on innovative strategies for fall prevention.
Learn from L. Scott Levin, MD, from Penn Medicine, the guest speaker for the Stepping Strong and Spaulding Rehabilitation Grand Rounds, who will discuss the latest advancements in hand transplantation techniques.
Come to the Boston Common to cheer on Team Stepping Strong as they participate in the Boston 5K race. Team members are running with purpose to support trauma research and care, and we invite you to join us in celebrating their commitment to making a difference.
Visit Kenmore Square for the second annual “One Mile To Go Block Party” where the Stepping Strong Center will join community partners to honor Boston’s resilient spirit at a key marathon mile marker.
In partnership with the Kraft Family Blood Donor Center and Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), the center is hosting a blood drive where we encourage donors to save lives for patients of traumatic injury and other serious health conditions.
Cheer on Team Stepping Strong as they run 26.2 miles to support trauma survivors. Join us at Heartbreak Hill in Newton and the One Mile To Go Block Party at Kenmore Square to celebrate our 150+ runners and give them extra encouragement as they make their final push toward the finish line.
